The Future of Financial Wellbeing

Morning Series Event

Cost-of-living pressure won’t be solved by one sector working alone.

We see it from every angle — in the community organisations we work alongside, and in the people they support every day. The Future of Financial Wellbeing series is FWC’s way of getting the right people in one room to move past talking about the problem and into solving it.

The Future of Financial Wellbeing is a panel event series that brings together leaders from finance, government, community services and research to explore practical responses to our most pressing cost-of-living challenges.

Presented by the Financial Wellbeing Collective (FWC) in partnership with Bankwest and the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC), the series provides a platform for evidence, insights, and cross-sector dialogue that can inform a more coordinated response to financial hardship.

Through thought-provoking discussions and shared learning, the series aims to move beyond conversation and identify opportunities for collective action. Following each event, key insights and reflections will be shared to support ongoing policy development, collaboration, and efforts to improve financial wellbeing across Western Australia.

If your work intersects with financial wellbeing, economic policy, service delivery, or system reform, these conversations are for you.

THE COST-OF-LIVING GENDER GAP

27 August 2026

7:30AM – 9:00AM

Rising cost of living pressures are not felt equally. Women face predictable, lifelong financial disadvantage shaped by lower average earnings, time out of the workforce for caring, higher rates of part time work, and reduced retirement savings. These factors mean women are more exposed to rising costs and less equipped to absorb them.
